Le cose stanno andando abbastanza bene per il franchise di Resident Evil. Resident Evil 7 e il remake di Resident Evil 2 sono stati successi critici e commerciali, e sembra che Resident Evil 3 continuerà questa tendenza.
Tuttavia, per quanto riguarda un capitolo nuovissimo della serie, potrebbero esserci alcuni problemi.
L’utente Twitter AestheticGamer (noto anche come Dusk Golem nei forum di ResetEra) è stato uno dei primi a ottenere informazioni accurate sul remake di RE3, e ora afferma che Resident Evil 8 è a “anni di distanza“. Apparentemente, c’era una versione di RE8 sviluppata dal team RE di Capcom già nel 2016, ma è stata sospesa per concentrarsi sui DLC di RE7 e sul remake di RE2.
Da allora lo sviluppo del gioco sarebbe stato completamente azzerato. Una nuova versione di RE8 avrebbe iniziato lo sviluppo solo sei mesi fa. E, sfortunatamente, non ci sarebbero altri remake di Resident Evil in cantiere.

There was a version of RE8 that was in development since late 2016, though it went on pause during 2017 due to needing more hands on for RE7’s DLC and RE2 (which was behind schedule at the time). Still, there was an RE8 version that was in the works for a few years.

However, it actually got officially scrapped and the project rebooted only like 6-7 months ago, so the “final” RE8 version hasn’t even been in development for a full year yet. Now these reboots often go faster because some assets and such are carried over, but don’t expect RE8

There also won’t be any Resident Evil remakes out in the next few years after RE3. There is a couple other Capcom games being rebooted in the same vein as RE2 & RE3 though in the RE Engine, which should be seen pretty soon.

Detto questo, le notizie non sono tutte negative. Alcuni altri classici di Capcom potrebbero tornare in vita utilizzando il RE Engine, e una sorta di nuovo gioco di Resident Evil uscirà il prossimo anno, ma non sarà RE8 o un altro remake.
Simo nel mondo dei rumor, quindi le notizie devono essere prese con la dovuta cautela. Tuttavia, se i rumor avranno un fondo di verità, sarà interessante capire cosa sarà questo RE in arrivo nel 2021. Potremmo ottenere un altro gioco Resident Evil: Revelations? O sarà qualcosa di completamente originale? E che dire dei presunti remake di Capcom con il RE Engine? E se si trattasse di Dino Crisis?
Nel frattempo, vi ricordiamo che Resident Evil 3 arriverà su PC, Xbox One e PS4 il 3 aprile.
